| The Whittier History Collection of the Whittier Public Library
documents the history of the growth and development of the City
of Whittier and the surrounding area.
Material is collected regarding Whittier's people, buildings, industries,
events and other historically pertinent information. The collection
consists of books, photographs, newspaper clippings, pamphlets,
scrapbooks, oral history tapes, and ephemera. Works by John Greenleaf
Whittier as well as local authors are also represented. Within the
collection is the Whittier Hills Archive, containing primary and
secondary resources that relate to the conservation and preservation
of the Puente-Chino Hills Wildlife Corridor.
Public access to the Whittier History Collection is presently by
appointment or by staff retrieval of items for in-house use only.
