Who Are the Friends of the Library?

The Friends of the Whittier Public Library is a growing membership of individuals and organizations interested in books and libraries and active in promoting the quality of services and facilities of the Whittier Central Library and Whittwood Branch Library.

Our goals are to focus community awareness on the Library as a cultural and educational center; to stimulate individual gifts and memorial tributes; to provide, through volunteer efforts, financial support of services and materials for which public funds are not available.

What Do Friends Do?

• Make significant gifts to the Library
• Sponsor programs of interest to the community
• Sponsor special children's programs and the Summer Reading Club
• Host special library events
• Issue Whittier Reader Bulletin
• Sponsor Nixon Room art exhibits
• Present Semiannual Used Book Sale
• Present Monthly Silent Used Book Auction

How Do I Become a Friend?
