The Smithsonian

We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 through October 15 with Smithsonian events, resources, exhibitions, and podcasts. The Smithsonian is building the National Museum of the American Latino to recognize the accomplishments, history, and culture of Latino communities.

The Smithsonian is working to build the National Museum of the American Latino in Washington, D.C. This museum honors the dreams, challenges, and triumphs of U.S. Latinos, elevating our stories within the national narrative. 

While the permanent museum building is still in the planning stages, the staff is creating exhibitionspublic programseducational materials, and learning opportunities while managing a temporary gallery
